The time has come

Well after a long wait for our flat dolls to go on there adventures it is time for them to be returned to their sender. 60 out of 81 made it back. As for the 21 that are MIA we still have 3 weeks of school I can still give them to the students if they come. Thanks for all those that helped out. I will take pictures and post them here over the next couple of week as we share about the places we have been and the things we have seen.

Things are in full swing!

Last week we offically started the FLAT STANLEY PROJECT! We read the story book and talked about all the fun things we could do if we were flat. Then I suprised the students by telling them that I was going to flatten them this week with this big paper maker thing. (Some student actally thought I was going to do it. haha). They were super excited as I explained the project to them. They are all working hard to create their FLAT __________. We will hopefully get them in the mail by this week!
Flat Teacher Rebecca is busy, busy, busy as you can see!

Introduction Letter to the Flat Stanley Project

Dear ____________________,
Our 5th grade students at Guanshan Elementary School will be reading the story, Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. One night, Stanley's bulletin board falls on him. When he wakes up, he is flat! Flat Stanley can slip underneath the door, or fly like a kite. He can go anywhere in an envelope, just like a letter.
Our class is pretending that we have been flattened. We have drawn ourselves as Flat Children, and are mailing them to visit friends or relatives. We will learn about cross-cultural studies as our Flat Children have adventures in far-away places.
Would you please take Flat ____________________ somewhere interesting? You can take a picture of me having fun. Then send me back to my school. You might include a letter about my trip. Other ideas would be souvenirs, maps, or a travel journal. If you are willing to help our Flat children by hosting them please e-mail(strongfoundation@yahoo.com)me or send me a message through facebook ASAP with your mailing address. Also you can e-mail/message me if you have any questions. Thank you for helping our Flat Children.
Love,
Teacher Rebecca and the 5th grade students at Guanshan Elementary School.
